Tucked away in one of the most remote corners of the Kimberley, Eagle Falls is a place few have ever heard of—let alone visited. Even Google struggles to pinpoint its exact location. This hidden gem, known mostly by locals and those who venture deep into the region, is only accessible by helicopter, making it one of the most exclusive natural wonders in Western Australia.

With its cascading waterfall, crystal-clear rock pools, and ancient landscapes untouched by time, Eagle Falls offers an experience that feels truly off the map.

Best time to visit Eagle Falls

March – April: Peak waterfall season

This is when Eagle Falls is at its most dramatic. The wet season rains have filled the waterways, creating a powerful cascade that’s an unforgettable sight from the air. The surrounding landscape is lush and vibrant, making it a stunning time to visit.

May – September: Dry season

As the Kimberley transitions into the dry season, the weather stabilises with clear skies, lower humidity, and warm days. The falls still flow, but the waters are calmer, and the surrounding terrain becomes drier, making for easier exploration.

1. Book your helicopter experience well in advance

helicopter experience

Eagle Falls is only accessible by helicopter, and spots are limited. Booking early with True North ensures you don’t miss out on this exclusive experience.

2. Bring sun protection

While there’s a small shaded spot where we set up the heli-picnic, most of the area around the falls is exposed. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are highly recommended, especially when exploring the falls or swimming in the rock pools.

3. Wear sturdy footwear

Due to its untouched and preserved nature, there are no footpaths or built walkways at Eagle Falls. The terrain is rocky and uneven, so sturdy shoes or sandals with good grip will make exploring much easier.

An adventure you won’t forget

There’s no better way to experience Eagle Falls than on a Kimberley cruise with True North. From soaring over the untouched landscapes by helicopter to enjoying a gourmet picnic beside the cascading falls, this is an adventure few will ever have.
