The Best Cruise Ship Activities Onboard the TRUE NORTH

Best Cruise Ship Activities Onboard - True North Adventure Cruise

The best cruise ship activities you’ll find…

When you think of cruise ship activities, you might think of splashing around in the pool, watching some evening entertainment, or kicking back on the deck. These are all nice things, but don’t really get the blood pumping, do they?

A cruise aboard the TRUE NORTH is not just another cruise… it’s an adventure.

The locations are one thing. From showering under the breathtaking King Cascade Falls on the TRUE NORTH’s bow to witnessing Raja Ampat with your own eyes, the locations are the stars of the show. But you can also look forward to some onboard cruise ship activities that differ a little bit from the norm…

Helicopter flights

There’s nothing quite like seeing your cruise destination from the sea, land, and sky. Our onboard helicopter makes that happen.

Piloted by our partners from Skyhook Helicopters, our EC130 B4 helicopter offers air-conditioned comfort, individual leather seating for six passengers, and expansive windows perfect for aerial expeditions.

And aerial expeditions you will go on! Get unparalleled views of the Kimberley, access untouched fishing billabongs, and discover secluded wilderness areas few have seen before.

 Adventure boating

Adventure boating - True North Adventure Cruise

Whatever you don’t see in the air, you’ll see on one of our 6 adventure boats. But these little runabouts aren’t your usual rubber boats or tin dingies; they’re spacious boats with ample seating and the flexibility to move around, meaning you can sightsee, fish, snorkel, and photograph with ease.

Fully surveyed by the Australian maritime authorities, you won’t need life jackets. Plus they’re extra hardy for any crocodile encounters we might have.

The best thing about our adventure boats is getting to go where all the big ships simply can’t… meaning you get to encounter your cruise destinations in a way not many have before.

Diving and snorkelling

True North’s passion for diving and snorkelling dates back to the ’80s, starting in the beautiful Rowley Shoals. But that’s not the only place you’ll see the rich coral and marine life the world has to offer.

Our destinations feature the best of the best, from Australia’s south coast to the Abrolhos Islands, the Ningaloo Reef, Raja Ampat, and more.

Adventure boats allow for tailored experiences for divers and snorkellers of all levels, from beginners to experts, ensuring everyone can explore the sea comfortably and safely.

Cultural experiences

Embarking on a True North adventure is not just a journey through breathtaking landscapes; it’s a voyage into the heart of vibrant cultures and ancient traditions. Whether you’re sailing the remote corners of the Kimberley or the waters of Papua New Guinea, you’ll have the unique opportunity to connect with the stories and people of these lands.

Discover ancient rock art that whispers the tales of the First Australians, meet the Melanesian and traditional Indonesian communities whose lives are intertwined with the sea, and experience the ceremonial splendour of Papua New Guinea.

Every destination has its own unique story, and our aim is to enrich your travel with deep, meaningful encounters that stay with you, long after your journey with us ends.

The best in modern Australian cuisine

The beauty of a True North adventure cruise is that realistically, you’ll be off the boat adventuring for the majority of the time. But when you’re back on board, you best believe you’ll be treated to some of the best modern Australian cuisine you’ve ever had.

See, we’re big on experiences, and that doesn’t end when you get back on the boat after a long day of exploring. We want dining to be more than just eating – we want it to be a journey through Australia’s culinary landscape, guided by sustainable and organic principles.

The adventure begins with locally sourced ingredients. Often that means joining our onboard chef to hand-pick the evening’s special. That might be a mud crab or a barramundi or a mackerel; whatever it is, you’ll be eating it in some mouthwatering dish later that evening. Watch our talented chefs prepare with flair, and sit beside other travellers to enjoy.

Fishing

Fishing at sunrise: activity on True North luxury cruise

Fancy a spot of fishing? It’d be rude not to! Luckily, we’ve got experienced fishing guides on board, so whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro, everyone can try their hand at catching something special.

What are you hoping for? A barramundi, mangrove jack, pink snapper? Or how about a finger mark beam, golden snapper, jewfish, or a sailfish? Our adventure boats and helicopter mean you can go where you want when you want, whether you want to fish from our adventure

boats or helicopter to a prime spot on the ground.

We supply all the equipment – all you need to do is cast out and wait.

Expedition photography

Keen to get into photography? Or maybe you’ve been doing it for years and you’re looking for exclusive access to some of the world’s best locations?
