True North appoints in-market representative for North America

Industry stalwart to push for greater product recognition

True North Adventure Luxury Cruises has appointed Ms Sandy Nerlich as its North American in-market representative.

Based in Los Angeles, Ms Nerlich is well-known for having managed Tourism Western Australia’s North American account since its inception. Ms Nerlich is also well-known for getting results. During her time as regional director, North American visitation to Western Australia grew from basically ‘unknown destination’ status to a much-more desirable position today where North Americans provide the state with its 4th highest source of global visitation.

Ms Nerlich also enjoyed prior success as a market development manager with Destination New South Wales and before that she ‘cut her teeth with companies specializing in travel to the South Pacific.

Announcing the appointment True North’s brand director, Mr Peter Trembath, explained that everyone at True North Adventure Cruises was looking forward to benefiting from Ms Nerlich’s wealth of experience and, her legendary reputation for tireless commitment.

“Sandy is not only an industry stalwart, she is highly regarded as someone who totally commits herself with infectious enthusiasm.”

Mr Trembath further explained that Ms Nerlich’s appointment was confirmation of the adventure-cruise operator’s faith in the North American market.

“We have been in-market since just before the financial crisis. Obviously, things stalled quite a bit during the crisis but since then passenger numbers ex-North America has steadily increased. We were especially buoyed by back to back whole boat arrangements with the New York Yacht Club, however, we believe that we can be even more successful in North America and we are confident that Sandy’s energy will deliver the required traction.”

Responding to her appointment Ms Nerlich said “I am absolutely thrilled to be associated with the TRUE NORTH. It is one of those bucket list vacations that everybody talks about and I am still finding it hard to believe that in just over a week, I will be experiencing life on-board this revered adventure-cruise ship for myself!”

Ms Nerlich’s appointment begins with a ‘Welcome Breakfast’ on the opening day of the Australian Tourism Exchange in Perth, Western Australia. The April 9 breakfast will be attended by some of the most prominent participants in North America’s outbound market to Australia and, thereafter Ms Nerlich will fly to Broome in Western Australia’s far north where she will join a Kimberley Waterfalls itinerary on the TRUE NORTH.
