Just north of Sydney, the Hawkesbury River winds through a landscape that feels far removed from the city it borders. Towering sandstone escarpments rise from the water’s edge, bushland stretches uninterrupted to the horizon, and quiet inlets reveal a landscape that feels calm and untouched.
This is one of Australia’s most historic and scenic waterways, where Indigenous heritage and early colonial history are woven into the landscape. Much of it remains accessible only by water, and as you cruise deeper into the river system, that sense of proximity begins to fade.
What replaces it is something quieter and more immersive, a journey through secluded bays, hidden waterways and landscapes that have shaped life along this coast for thousands of years.
