Qantas’ affordable Broome airfares extended

Holiday-makers will continue to be able to take advantage of Qantas’ special weekend fares to Broome, with an extension of the State Government’s affordable airfare initiative.

The special fares offer passengers the opportunity to fly between Perth and Broome from $199 one-way during high season (between August 17, 2019 and October 16, 2019 and June 20, 2020 and August 16, 2020) and $179 during low season (between October 17, 2019 and June 19, 2020).

ay to Sunday and booked 60 days or 45 days in advance, offering savings of more than $200 for a return trip.

The Perth to Broome affordable airfare initiative is the result of a partnership between Tourism Western Australia and Qantas.
Qantas will make 500 of the discounted seats available per week during the high season and 600 per week during the low season on its A320 aircraft operating on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The affordable fares between Perth and Broome were introduced on a 12-month trial basis in May last year with flights commencing that August, to boost the number of people travelling to Broome. Residents in Broome continue to have access to Qantas’ discounted fares program, which offers discounts of up to 30 per cent off year-round fares for return travel to Perth.

Results of the trial showed more than 20,000 Qantas fares between Perth and Broome have been purchased. In the winter peak period, about 90 per cent of all available discounted fares were booked.

The initiative was also recently extended to include special fares for weekends in Exmouth as a trial for the upcoming 2019 peak season, with fares available from $169 one-way for flights between Perth and Exmouth.

The special weekend fares for flights to Broome are available for sale from May 20, 2019.
